The Realization

I had no idea what I was doing... I mean I had a great bow, good groups, public land nearby, time to go, and gumption (for the kids that means energy or ability to give effort, if someone knows a better word let me know because I don't think aura or 67 fit very well) but that was it. I didn't really even have a friend nearby to help or teach and besides "I've done this before."

The Education

It took a whole season (and most of the next sadly) of seeing nothing to admit how little I knew. So the conversations at work started, the podcasts started playing, and the interweb links were clicked. A common theme kept coming up: hunting from an elevated position. Now I know this is a given for everyone else, but I only ever hunted from the ground in my past. Also, carrying in a stand and/or locking one down on public wasn't very appealing either.

Looking Up

As a kid I had done a little bit of indoor rock climbing and even repelled down a 4-story parking structure at MSU one summer. Yea kids in the 90's were allowed to do awesome stuff (real talk: mom had no idea we were going to do that). When "saddle hunting" starting popping up on social media, I was hooked right away. Less bulk, more options once in the field, and a little sense of adventure. But where to start?!?

Your local shop with saddle hunting gear are the right experts to talk to. Go try on gear and make sure it fits you. Ask them about what else you might need to make this easier (hint hint we specialize in that area). Start by checking out our Dealer Locator or asking your friends where they go.
